Why is a wedding quilt is a good thing to remember my wedding?

A request came from the Chicago area this summer to make a wedding quilt for a happy couple.  I assumed it was a routine order and got the necessary nformation as to color preferences and size. The mother of the groom called and had a special and very touching request for me. A sad fact was that both the bride and groom's fathers were deceased and would not share in this life-changing event for their children. The mother asked if I could add fabric from the men's clothing to the wedding quilt. In this way, they could be a part of those special wedding memories in the quilt that this couple would always have to cherish.  I did put those pieces of both men's shirts into the quilt, and felt it added so much of them to the occasion. I have made many quilts since then for weddings and wedding anniversaries, but none have ever touched me in this way before. I have suggested this idea to others when I am told, "Grandpa is gone, I so wish he could be here." 
This is a way to keep love!
